Villas on the hill
The Edwardian and Victorian villas here are generous homes with plenty of stairs and a fair amount of furniture, so we bring the van size and the hands to match. We wrap everything properly and plan the carry through period doorways and round the turns of an original staircase.
Loading on the slope
Bear Flat's spot on the hill means the van has to be parked with the slope and the busy Wellsway in mind. We plan the nearest safe stopping point in advance, keep the carry short, and time the move to avoid the worst of the through-traffic where we can.
The move up the hill
There is a well-worn path from the terraces of Oldfield Park up to the villas of Bear Flat, and we move a lot of people along it. It is the classic second or third home in Bath: more space, a garden, a view over the city, and a considerably larger amount of furniture to get through a front door than the flat they left had.
The Wellsway is the thing to plan around. It is a through route with a slope, which means a van cannot simply sit outside for the afternoon while the carry happens at a leisurely pace. We work out where the vehicle can safely stand, whether the load can come out of a side street instead, and how long the carry from there actually is. Doing that in advance is what keeps a Bear Flat move to the day it was quoted for.
