Terraced streets and where the van waits
The Victorian grid around Moorland Road is pleasant but tightly parked, so a van needs a planned spot to load from. We work out the closest legal stopping point in advance, keep the carry short, and time the move to miss the worst of the school-run and commuter crush where we can.
Rooms and house-share moves
With so many students and renters here, single rooms and house shares make up a lot of our Oldfield Park work. We bring a van sized to a room's worth of belongings, which keeps the cost sensible, and we know the terraced staircases well enough to bring a bed or a wardrobe down without a struggle.
The academic year sets the calendar
No other part of Bath has a moving season as sharply defined as Oldfield Park. The student tenancy cycle means late June and early July empty a great many house shares at once, and September fills them again, with a smaller wave of room swaps in between. If your move falls in either window you are competing with a lot of other people for the same van on the same Saturday.
The practical answer is to book early and, if you can, move midweek. A Wednesday in the first week of July is a different day's work from the Saturday at the end of it, both in what it costs and in whether anyone can park. If you are moving a single room rather than a whole house, we can often combine the timing more flexibly, because a room's worth of belongings does not need the full day that a six bed share does.
